Are there Immigration Scammers out there?
Unfortunately, there are scammers out there who are using the tumultuous atmosphere surrounding Immigration Law right now and profiting off people who are in need of real help. Before hiring an attorney in Massachusetts, Immigration or otherwise, you can look up lawyers online at the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers website.
Here is a link to a flyer authored by the American Immigration Lawyers Association that discusses how to protect yourself from Immigration scams. Feel free to print it out and distribute it to those who might benefit from it. This flyer is also available in Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese, Tagalog, and Vietnamese. ICE is at my door. What are my rights?
Citizens and non-citizens, alike, have Constitutional rights in the United States. You have the right to not answer questions. You have the right not to open the door to ICE officers unless they have a signed judicial warrant with your name and address on it. You have the right to hire an attorney. Please download this flyer from the American Immigration Lawyers' Association spelling out your rights. As with all the flyers on my website, feel free to print it out and distribute it.
